PERSONAL PROJECT

This project was inspired by the daily lives of communities scattered along the beaches of the island where I live. Florianópolis coexists with development and a culture steeped in Azorean traditions. Artisanal fishing, which respects nature and its cycles, remains a source of income for many families, even as the city transforms into a technological hub.

Creating this story and character was my way of honoring my roots. Through digital painting, I portrayed the tarrafa fishing tradition, the local fauna, and the natural beauty of the region, celebrating the connection between tradition and innovation.

BOOK COVER

This is Pedro, a boy full of dreams who longs to catch a big fish and prove to his brothers that he is ready to join them on their adventures at sea. He lives in a small fishing village, surrounded by a beach rich in culture and tradition. Inspired by his grandfather, a renowned boat fisherman, Pedro aspires to face the challenges of the ocean and live great adventures.
What Pedro didn’t expect was that his first big fishing story would be marked by compassion. He managed to catch the fish of his dreams but chose to let go of the proof he so desired, learning a valuable lesson he would never forget.
